PS4 System Software Update 4.50

The next major PS4 system update will drop soon. The 4.50 software is in Beta testing at the moment and for those who aren’t in the Beta test program here are a few of things that will be added.

The main inclusions are as follows:

External HDD Support

This has to be the main addition that everyone has been waiting for. Upgrading the HDD on a PS4 is not a tough task, but for those who are unsure of the procedure the external HDD is a god send.

This feature will allow you to you to store newly downloaded and existing content to an external HDD. Only USB 3.0 HDD are compatible up to 8TB in size. Just plug in and away you go!!

You can download and install applications directly to your extra storage, managed easily through the settings menu. Copy from the internal across to the external.

(User info and save files will still stored on your PS4 HDD. Only games and applications are stored externally)

All your Games/Apps saved in the external HDD will appear in the Content Launcher of the Home Screen. This helps to check what has been launched recently.

Other additions are:

  • Custom Wallpapers : Allows you to set your favorite in game screenshot as a wallpaper.
  • 3D Blu-rays For VR Users: Allows Playstation VR users to watch 3D Blu-ray movies through the headset
  • Quick Menu Refresh: Additional improvements to this function added in last update. Less space used for function and includes, party creation, inviting new friends and joining parties without using the separate party App.
  • Simplified Notification List: Notification tabs are now in a  single simplified list, making it easier to see all of your notifications.

Info on other additions will be released closer to the Update ’s arrival. Stay tuned for more info as it comes!

Thanks for your Time
